One of the best parts about having such a diverse community of agility enthusiasts is hearing all of the stories of how OneMind Dogs came into people’s lives. Today, we’ll hear about OneMind Dogs community member Jacqui Angus’ journey with us.

Jacqui first heard about OneMind Dogs in 2015, and signed up for the free membership to see what all the hype was about (if you’re keen to do the same, you can do that here!). Recently, we spoke to Jacqui about her training journey since then.

Jacqui’s agility training journey

“In June 2015, I got my first Border Collie and first agility dog. At this point I was already competing in agility with a friend’s Australian Shepherd, Spencer. He taught me so much about handling as he had no verbal commands and I only saw him once a week — so we really had to make the most of our time together.

You can imagine my excitement in having my first agility puppy. I was fortunate enough to win a few months of OneMind Dogs premium membership and I took as much information as I could to assist me on my new journey.

At this point I must be honest, I was not fully committed to one method as I was seeking any and all methods to assist me in training my new pup. Although I did find myself referring back numerous times to the OneMind Dogs method, and it really helped me learn to listen to my dog.”

And then there were two!

Jacqui began to notice a lack of consistency in her training, made even more apparent in 2018 when she got a second Border Collie puppy and signed up for a puppy class given by OneMind Dogs Coach Anna Eifert.

Jacqui said “I thoroughly enjoyed her class, but by early 2019 I started losing hope and felt like I was not listening to my second Border Collie who was quite different to the first.”

“So in October 2019, I decided to purchase an Annual Premium Membership with OneMind Dogs. I have never looked back since. I participated in a Guided Course led by OneMind Dogs Coach Niki Drage in the forum and just loved every moment.

Aside from the guided courses, the forum has been a valuable source of information for troubleshooting. I created a post there to ask a question, and I was overwhelmed by the guidance and assistance I was offered (mind blowing)!

At this point I really started to get into the OneMind Dogs method and yes, it took me that long to realise that this was the method for me.

Hu’s Blog was another real deal maker for me, I have since been following his owner Mari Kaplas and her dogs and they are amazing. I have also been following Anna Eifert’s dog Nebraska and they are an amazing team. This is when I decided that I want to achieve the same consistency in my agility career. Both of these OneMind Dogs Coaches have really inspired me. And of course many more, but they have stood out in my mind.

I currently have a new Border Collie puppy. We’re participating in OneMind Dogs Coach Katelyn Scott’s Guided Course – Foundation For Agility, and we are having an absolute blast! I want to bring up and train my new pup consistently, using the OneMind Dogs method only. With my older dogs I was using a combination of methods and faced several difficulties.

Since being a premium member I have enjoyed the benefits OneMind Dogs has to offer. The team has been super in assisting me with all my queries and the website is user friendly. The guided courses are amazing and very thorough. I am truly grateful to have found OneMind Dogs, even though I think my journey is only just beginning, but rather later than never.

Thank you, OneMind Dogs!
