For many of us, learning agility is much more than starting a new hobby. It’s the language we share with our dogs; a joyful way to connect, communicate, and grow together.
That’s exactly how Chikage Castle, an Agility Premium member from the USA, describes her journey with her Belgian Malinois, Dino. Their story captures what makes the OneMind Dogs method so special: it’s logical, fun, and built entirely on how dogs naturally understand the world.
Starting from zero and finding the right path
“Dino is a 3-year-old Belgian Malinois and my first competition agility dog. When I started, I was very new to dog training in general, so I began with obedience classes at a local dog training center. After that, I enrolled Dino in agility classes, and she absolutely loved it. However, I quickly realized there was so much to learn about agility, and I found it challenging to run her effectively during class.”
Many handlers can relate to this. That moment when enthusiasm meets overwhelm. You love your dog, you want to do right by them, but agility suddenly feels like a thousand pieces that don’t fit together yet.
That’s where OneMind Dogs comes in. Created by dogs, not people, our method is built on communicating in a way dogs already understand; body language. It’s why even brand-new teams quickly start to feel in sync.
When learning clicks
“Two years ago, I came across OneMind Dogs ads online and decided to take their course. As a beginner, I was initially overwhelmed by the many handling options presented in the program. But the videos demonstrating human movements and step-by-step teaching methods were incredibly helpful. I could slow down the videos and watch them repeatedly, which made practicing the handling skills much easier.”
For our members, clarity and logical information matter most. OneMind Dogs lessons are structured to make sense; visually, logically, and emotionally. Every video breaks down what your dog sees, how your body communicates, and what happens when everything aligns.
Building confidence, one session at a time
“At first, it was difficult to focus on my own handling motions while also watching Dino. But over time, with consistent practice, my movements became more natural, and I was able to shift my attention more toward Dino rather than myself.”
This is the moment everything changes: When connection feels like a natural part of handling. When the handler stops thinking about what they are doing, and starts thinking as a team with the dog.
That’s the philosophy our entire community shares: understanding your dog’s perspective makes you a better teammate. And every small success builds confidence and connection, not just skill.
From backyard to international competition
“I was thrilled to meet Tuulia and Timo in person at the ISC event in Franklin, TN for the first time and have them as my teammates for the team event. We did well and placed 3rd overall. This was my very first ISC event and was so excited to make it to the final.”
“The International Training Week videos have helped me tremendously to prepare for the ISC event. I was able to set up the course in my backyard to practice the skills presented in the videos.”
For many handlers, OneMind Dogs becomes more than an online course. It’s a mentor and a roadmap. With training you can do anywhere, you don’t need fancy facilities or endless time. Just a bit of space, curiosity, and a willingness to learn from your dog.
Endless learning and opportunity to grow
“There is so much to offer in the OneMind Dogs program, and I have only scratched the surface. It will take me years to practice and watch all the videos, and I always learn something new each time I watch them. As a novice handler teaching a novice dog, it would not have been possible for us to learn this quickly without the OneMind Dogs program.”
That’s what makes our members lifelong learners; agility is never “finished.” It evolves with every new insight, every new dog, and every breakthrough moment.
For Chikage and Dino, that’s what OneMind Dogs gave them: confidence, structure, and connection. For you, it might be the same feeling, that moment when everything finally makes sense to both you and your dog.
