Janita my dog definitely falls into the excited category and drops way too many bars in competition. Even the first bars when I am not moving come down too often. I know some people advocate stopping or downing the dog for a bar in training but others suggest this is a form of punishment and that if we are constantly stopping for every bar it creates negative energy around doing agility which can effect the dogs desire to work, or his confidence. I understand your advice above about being consistent in how you handle bar knocking in training and trials but what is your general advice on handling bar knocking when it occurs?
