What method do you guys use to teach the running dogwalk? i have not seen video for this....I want to teach my dog both running and 2o2o....
Also when teaching the different methods do you use 2 different verbals to take the dog walk? like do you say "go go go!!!" for running and "walk the 2o2o command?" how do you teach the dog to tell the difference between the 2?

Hi Rachel, we do not have a video available for running contact training as yet. I personally have both for my dog and to discriminate between the two I say "up, up, go go go" for running and "up, touch" for stop contact. I make sure I give her the command before she actually gets to the dogwalk so she can adjust her striding accordingly.
I trained her 2on2off first until she was completely competent and understood the criteria, then I introduced the running contact on a different verbal cue.

I have since retrained my running contact using a target, initially I used the striding method but in Australia we get many bad angled approaches to the dog walk and it was hard to get striding consistent as a result. The target was also much easier to teach, so I have changed my verbal now for the target method so running is now "up up, run run run", I have 2 dogs currently running with this method and find it very accurate so far. I still have the verbal 2on2off too when needed.
