Bitten By An Agility-bug At The OneMind Dogs California Seminars

I have been working with the OneMind Dogs office team for almost a year now so it was about time I saw some live OneMind Dogs action. This weekend I finally got to experience it when attending the last day of the OneMind Dogs California seminars. Needless to say I was excited.

Having watched numerous agility videos online over the last year, I was expecting it to be mostly Border Collies and Aussies at the event. As fabulous as these breeds are, I was still positively surprised to see also a variety of other breeds, sizes and shapes being represented.

Jolyn Montgomery attended the Short Sequences seminar with her Papillon Zoomerang. This was Zoomerang’s first ever OneMind Dogs event. It was great timing for young Zoomerang who will be attending his first UKI trial at end of this month.

After having watched OneMind Dogs training videos online Jolyn really enjoyed seeing all the OneMind Dogs Coaches in live action.

I also got a chance to meet a real celebrity at the event. This is Geordi who attended his first OneMind Dogs seminar with his owner Aiden Lee. With 286k Instagram followers Geordi often gets recognised on the street. Naturally I had to use this opportunity to get a photo with him.

Geordi’s owner (and social media manager) Aiden had already been introduced to some of the OneMind Dogs handling techniques by her trainer in Los Angeles, but attending the seminar really helped her understand how to put it all together. She also learned how to modify the techniques to work for her dog. “I learned a lot more about how you actually work it all into a sequence in an efficient way” she said.

I was lucky to speak to also many other lovely participants and meet their enthusiastic little teammates. Watching them work together was really fascinating, and at best looked like a seamless dance between the dog and the human.

As someone completely new to the world of agility I left the event very inspired. I may have been bitten by an agility bug. Now what kind of dog should I get?
